Maria Jose Martinez is the founder and creative director of Moss & Coast, a Vancouver-based interior design studio inspired by the quiet beauty of nature and the emotional connection between people and the spaces they inhabit. Originally from Mexico, Maria Jose brings a design perspective shaped by culture, nature, and human connection. Her work blends organic textures, coastal calm, and timeless simplicity to create interiors that feel warm, balanced, and deeply personal. Natural materials such as wood, stone, linen, and organic textiles play a central role in her designs, bringing authenticity and character to every space. She believes that a home becomes truly meaningful when it reflects the lifestyle, routines, and story of the people who live in it. After moving to Canada, Maria Jose gained hands-on construction experience working on site with contractors. This background allows her to approach design with both creativity and practicality, ensuring each project is as functional as it is beautiful. At Moss & Coast, every project begins with understanding the client — translating their lifestyle, personality, and vision into spaces that feel calm, intentional, and truly their own.
